The influence of Futsal and the benefits of indoor sessions on our programme

Whilst we love playing tunes outdoors (especially when the weather is nice) we opt for delivering our football to music sessions indoors (although we will do the odd session outdoors for a different approach using our large portable speaker). Using an indoor venue like a sports hall will have obvious benefits like protecting the sessions from bad weather (which we get much more than nice weather) and avoiding cancellations. The music also benefits, as it can have a bigger impact on the session by creating an enjoyable and energetic environment, when the sound waves of the tunes are bouncing off the walls. However, the influence of Futsal and the impact it can have on the players technical development is a less obvious benefit to anyone observing.
Futsal, an indoor version of football, offers a beneficial platform for our programme due to its emphasis on technical skills, quick thinking and teamwork. The smaller playing area encourages players to practice their close control, passing accuracy and ball retention, which are fundamental skills within football. The fast-paced nature of futsal helps enhance decision-making abilities and raises their awareness of space. Additionally, the constant movement of players and small-sided games promote teamwork, communication and understanding of different positional roles.
Overall, futsal serves as an effective training tool for young players to develop crucial skills and attributes that can ultimately benefit their overall development. Combining the influence of Futsal with the benefits of music on our sessions and our key coaching principles and challenges, allows us to deliver a session that benefits each individual player.
